nitrile gloves market forecast explosive growth

Explosive growth forecast in nitrile gloves market – The personal protective equipment (PPE) has seen a huge spike in its market around the globe in 2020.

This is no surprise given the global Covid-19 pandemic and an increased demand for PPE among the general population, as well as sectors in which it has been traditionally used such as healthcare, construction and automotive industries.

The market for one particular type of PPE, nitrile gloves, is booming as nitrile is resistant to lubricants, oils, acids and chemicals, making it much a more desirable material for gloves in comparison to other types of rubber.

Nitrile is also much thicker, making it less likely to tear, which gives the wearer added protection. Demand for gloves in general has increased as the demand for healthcare services has increased, not only as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but also due to an ageing population requiring more medical treatment.

Nitrile gloves help to stop the spread of pathogens and avoid cross-contamination between surgeries and medical examinations. They are also more robust in comparison to the powder coated gloves that are traditionally used.

As a result of their thickness and resistance to lubricants and oils, the use of nitrile gloves has also become more popular in the automotive industry. In this sector gloves are used more to protect the wearer from coming into contact with potentially harmful substances rather than to avoid cross-contamination, as is the case in the healthcare sector.

As the gloves are thicker they are less likely to puncture too, therefore an automotive worker can feel more confident that they can maintain the protection offered by their gloves should they accidentally catch their hand on an engine part while working in a confined space, for example.

As well as being strong and resistant to chemicals, nitrile is also popular because it is less likely to aggravate allergies, unlike latex gloves, for example. For those working in an industry where they must wear gloves all the time, something which is durable, provides protection and does not aggravate allergies is the logical choice.

The Covid-19 pandemic has also seen industries not previously concerned with PPE start to demand it. The UK government has provided guidelines to businesses which must be followed in order for them to reopen. This has meant that many businesses have been required to put additional measures in place to protect staff and customers, often involving the provision of PPE.

For example, many vehicle fuelling stations now provide disposable gloves to customers to wear when using the pumps to avoid cross-contamination. Workers in the beauty industry are also wearing masks or visors and gloves where practical since they are working in close contact with their customers.

With all of the above in mind it is not hard to see why in North America alone the nitrile gloves market is expected to see a compound annual growth rate of 13.1% by 2027 and the global market is expected to reach a size of $8.6 billion and a compound annual growth rate of 14.1% over the same period.
